PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. Time of Artaxerxes II to Artaxerxes III, circa 375-340 BC. 1/4 Siglos (Silver, 8 mm, 1.24 g, 12 h), Lydo-Milesian standard, Sardes or subsidiary mint. Persian king or hero in kneeling/running stance to right, holding dagger and bow. Rev. Incuse punch with uncertain design. BMC Arabia pl. XXVI, 27. Carradice Type IV C (pl. XV, 46). Sunrise 37. Rare. A beautiful and perfectly centered example of this unusual small denomination. Slightly porous and with a scratch on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
